MOLecoLAB, located within the Medical University of Lodz, Poland, represents a benchmark in architectural innovation and sustainability. This building has become the first laboratory in Poland developed under passive building standards, achieving an energy demand of less than 15 kWh/m² per year.
Developed by Onyx Solar Energy, the project integrates two high-performance building solutions that combine design, energy efficiency, and advanced photovoltaic technology:
• Ventilated photovoltaic façade composed of crystalline silicon photovoltaic glass, manufactured in different dimensions and finished with blue rear glass, providing a contemporary aesthetic and integrated energy generation within the building envelope.
• Bicycle shelter designed with the same photovoltaic glass configuration, creating a coherent architectural image and reinforcing the complex’s sustainable commitment.
The photovoltaic modules have been laminated with EVALAM UC, an interlayer designed for architectural applications that provides high durability, safety, and optical stability, ensuring reliable long-term performance even under demanding conditions.
MOLecoLAB demonstrates how the integration of architectural photovoltaic solutions can transform the building envelope into an active energy source, raising efficiency and design standards in modern construction.
