Lumen Shopping Center redefines the retail experience with an impressive 2,300 m² photovoltaic skylight designed to combine innovation, sustainability, and comfort.
This exclusive system, designed and developed by Onyx Solar Energy, integrates 800 photovoltaic glass units with crystalline silicon technology, transforming the roof into an elegant source of clean and efficient energy.
With an installed capacity of 258 kWp and by maximizing the solar radiation available in Mexico City, the system generates more than 347,000 kWh annually—enough energy to continuously power nearly 19,800 lighting points. In addition, it actively contributes to environmental protection by preventing the annual emission of 233 tons of CO₂.
Beyond its energy performance, the skylight was custom-designed to provide a comfortable and sophisticated outdoor experience. The structure offers shading and solar control while still allowing natural light to enter, creating bright, modern, and pleasant spaces for visitors.
The project positions Lumen Shopping Center as a benchmark in sustainable architecture, where design, energy efficiency, and well-being come together to deliver an innovative and environmentally responsible retail space.
The photovoltaic modules are laminated with EVALAM UC, a high-performance EVA for photovoltaic modules designed to provide excellent adhesion, high light transmission, and outstanding thermal stability. Its formulation optimizes lamination processes, reduces production rejects, and enhances the durability and efficiency of the solar system. Thanks to its compatibility with both standard and BIPV applications, it offers a reliable, versatile, and high-performance solution for photovoltaic projects.
